Apartment Review for 610 South 8Th Street - Minneapolis, MN

The apartment building is a pile of junk. It smells. There is mold growing in the main entryway. The main entryway was without a floor for a year until they finally painted over the mold and the floor. Classy. The laundry room has been without flooring for a year. There are only three washers and three dryers, and at least one washer is always broken. The management company refuses to put any money into the building, but, of course, continues to raise the rent each year. Tenants can never get a hold of the management company, however, currently there is a middlewoman who lives in the building. Not much authority there. The previous manager was much better. There is one maintenance man who divides his time between too many buildings to have time to properly fix anything. The elevator takes years to reach its destination. There are rumors that the building will be sold because of its prime location. Management would not give much notice to renters if this occurred. Drug dealers broke into the building last year, beat up a tenant, etc. Management company refused to pay for a security guard. There are four parking spaces for the entire 40-unit building, and those have long since been reserved. The refrigerator sits on the carpet in the living room. No ventilation in "kitchen." Trapped four mice in our unit in one week alone. Tenants had mice problems as well. Had a bat in our apartment. One week earlier there were bats in the common room.
