Apartment Review
Owner is a verified slumlord (UPI)

The owner of this property is a verified slumlord (and a felon, no joke) who lives in a multi-million dollar beachfront home in Florida. I was happy when I signed the lease, the unit was large and not to expensive. However, it is not worth it. The windows were a joke, the noise level was very high, and the maintenance horrible. The management is sleazy and non-responsive. Please search "spiro zorbalas" (the owner) and "city pages" to read horror stories about renting from this company. I just moved out to a beautiful first floor of a house in the same neighborhood. UPI sent me my deposit on the last possible day allowed by the law and it was minus $200 for an "administration processing fee." My unit was missing storm windows required by law and were very drafty. We were instructed by our live in caretakers to call the emergency line to get them to turn on the heat in the fall and spring (required by law). We did not receive our certificate of rent paid documents in the window of time required by law, and when we did receive them they had "mistakenly" put lower credits. Even though this property management company has 30 some buildings their office hours are only three days a week and from 12-5. If you rent from them, get your leasing agents phone number immediately. Otherwise you will not be able to get a hold of anyone. When I asked for my agent's card, she said she didn't have any and had to write her number on the back of someone else's. From the looks of a simple search of "UPI" online, I can see that I had it better than many others, but it was still a bad experience renting from them. There are plenty of great apartments in the area, please do not support UPI and their shady, unethical practices.
