Apartment Review
rented an efficiency from 1997-1998--better than U
Review Date: 10/29/2006 Reviewer: Anonymous
i would recommend this place because it is not UPi or Spiros Zorbalas owned. it wasn't a perfect place, but there were ok times. my ex-boyfriend had gotten into a number of tiffs with management and gotten on their bad side, so i was not on their good graces. this was the first apartment i ever rented. i started the place out with a sublease and continued into a year long lease. the first caretakers were a couple. the second caretaker was the owner's son. my ex had complaints about the toilet that puzzled me, but what i noticed was a leaky pipe in the kitchen sink. i kept reporting it and was told it was "sweating." after enough water pouring out i got on my hands and knees and felt the underside of the pipe. it had rusted through and there were large holes. at the time i was angry and with the help of my ex's parents and mine i repaired the pipe. later i got scolded for the repair, and my ex would not help with paying rent, utilities, food, or cleaning around the house, so i was broke and exhausted. (he was my 1st boyfriend, and i was naive.) so the apartment was not tidy and the landlord told us he would not renew the lease--specially with my ex starting arguments with them and taking their parking spots instead of his. there were often leaves and spider webs in the hall, but it wasn't a big deal. on the positive side of things: no cockroaches, no mice, the lock on the door worked, no broken windows, etc. i got to see a vintage train go past the back of my apt. and, tho i was mad that i didn't get my full rent back at the time, at least he only took out $100. not the worst, not the best. liveable. if you have a choice between them and UPi, stay away from UPi!!!! UPi is amazingly horrible! though i do gather from another entry someone wrote of chrisland that basement apartments seem atrocious. (i was on 3rd floor.) it is so easy to say what's bad and forget to say what's good or livable, so hopefully we have a range of ratings so we can truly know the scale. remember to rate your good experiences, too. most places have something wrong, but which have the least wrong. |
