I'm a current resident at Eitel and I think it's a complete joke. I've lived here in May 2008 and I have already decided not to renew my lease. List of reasons below: 1) NO security. Although residents have to use their key fob to enter the building and guests have to dial the apartment number, anyone can enter without challenge if someone happens to be leaving. There have been numerous thefts from the underground garage and the flatscreen TVs from the gym have also been stolen. The Building Management have failed to ever report these crimes to the residents. The Minneapolis PD have countless reports of crimes from this building. There are no security personnel on site. Guests are not required to register, unlike other properties in the area. There is nothing to prevent a crime to property or even worse a person in this building. The security cameras are not recorded making it incredibly difficult for police to act and catch the offenders, in addition to the inability to introduce as evidentiary support in court. 2) No Concierge. This continues to be advertised as a provided service for which we are paying. I have lost count how many we've had. The most recent now works in the leasing office which means once the office is closed at 6pm there is nobody else on site. As a result, if a UPS or FedEx parcel arrives before you get home, it is locked away and you're unable to recover it until the next day. If this is an urgent delivery, you're stuck. 3) For over a year, Eitel advertised room service being available once the new restaurant opened in the building. I called one day and they said they don't offer this service and had never heard of an agreement with Eitel. This was one of the things that induced me into signing a lease here. I challenged the lack of this service to Management and was advised that they were still 'working a deal'. 4) MICE. I had 2 mice in my apartment. I reported it several times to Building Management. It took them TWO MONTHS to act. The Building Manager at the time did nothing. I then had to live with traps spread over my apartment for a month. I was not offered any compensation and had to proactively request a reduction in rent for the inconvenience. Update: The MICE are back. I saw one in my apartment this past weekend (over Thanksgiving). This building is only 18 months old. I am going to contact the City of Minneapolis for their thoughts. 5) High turnover of staff. I think we are now on our fourth or fifth building manager in 18 months. I've lost count how many Concierges and Leasing employees we've had. 6) Lack of reporting on things that matter. One of the elevators was out for over 3 or 4 weeks. There was zero communication on this until the very end. A few weeks ago, we were all evacuated late on a Saturday night due to a fire alarm. It was a false alarm but there was no communication on this. The Management is too concerned with pushing bits of paper under our door informing us of upcoming pet costume contests or poker nights or bead-making nights. This is not a vacation resort, this is our home. We are never informed of things that matter. 7) There is a noted lack of upkeep around the building I just feel that Village Green are more than willing to accept our monthly rent which is the equivalent of a mortgage but don't 'give back to the community'. On the up side, the location is great. Right on the park. A few minutes walk to Downtown. Amenities are good, although because of my work schedule, I generally don't use them. |
